Choosing the right size
A standard adult urn holds the ashes from one cremation, while keepsake urns hold a small portion. Water cremation can return a slightly larger volume of ashes than flame cremation, so we always check that the urn you choose is the right size.
Scattering, burial or a columbarium
Ashes can be kept at home, scattered somewhere meaningful, buried in a family plot, or placed in a council columbarium wall. Mackay Regional Council has columbarium walls at Mount Bassett, Walkerston, Marian, Mirani West and Sarina cemeteries, and Whitsunday Regional Council at Proserpine and Bowen. We arrange the council paperwork for you.
Biodegradable urns for sea or garden
If you plan to return ashes to the sea or the earth, a biodegradable urn breaks down gently in water or soil — a natural fit for families choosing water cremation and a scattering off the Mackay or Whitsunday coast.
